Better, Safer Healing

Dioxyfin™ is a therapeutic mist of pharmaceutical carbon dioxide and water that creates a far better healing environment by naturally causing three reactions that work in concert to promote healing:

  1. It is a biological trigger for the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis) and eventual permanent tissue;

  2. Carbon dioxide forces oxygen to be released from the blood and it causes small blood vessels to dilate. As a result blood flow through the tissue is increased and extra oxygen is released; and,

  3. It reduces inflammation.

Additionally, carbon dioxide is bacteriostatic, sterile and an antioxidant.

Dioxyfin is safe, effective and easy to use.

Treatments can be delivered in the hospital, the barn, the paddock, or the pasture — no excessive training necessary. Carbon dioxide must be administered under the supervision of a veterinarian, but any member of staff, or even the animal's owner or trainer, can deliver the medication.

Transdermal Therapy

Medical therapy through the skin is a well-described practice. Transdermal applications of patches containing medicine for treating pain, nausea, heart failure, and dementia are commonplace. All these regimens permit the prolonged transfer of drugs into the body, so there is a continuous amount of the drug in the bloodstream.

An alternative option for transdermal therapy is to use a gas, instead of a patch. The use of gas has been less common due to the difficulty in transporting the gas and administering it in a controlled fashion.

Our system solves those issues and allows veterinarians to offer this therapeutic option in a safe, easy to use and portable format . However, due to its effect on the body, the FDA classifies carbon dioxide as a drug and it must, like any other drug, be manufactured and used in accordance with FDA standards and regulations. Consequently, our gases and sleeves may be purchased only by licensed veterinarians and must be used under the supervisions of a licensed veterinarian.

Dashy’s cellulitis and her open wounds responded immediately to the transdermal pharmaceutical carbon dioxide treatments. And, within 24 hours she was putting weight on the sore leg and ambulating with comfort. Her quick improvement was observed by our team and by our client. Not only was the clinical response impressive, the transdermal carbon dioxide treatment made her much more comfortable than any other modality we previously administered. At the conclusion of treatment her cellulitis was resolved, her wounds were healed and she appeared sound at the walk and at the jog. We’ll recommend pharmaceutical transdermal carbon dioxide for all of our cellulitis and wound cases.
